Is Malik Nabers playing this week? Exploring Giants WR's status ahead of Colts game - Source: Imagn

Malik Nabers and the New York Giants cannot wait for their 2024 season to end. They are 2-13 and have lost 10 straight games, the worst run in the franchise's 99-year history. Astonishingly, both their victories have been on the road. They beat the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 and the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.

They are 0-8 at MetLife Stadium this season, and Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts represents their final opportunity to avoid finishing the campaign winless at home. The Giants will need their offense to fire, especially rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has been the silver lining in a disappointing season.

There are concerns about his availability for the game, though, due to a nagging toe injury, but it seems likely that he will play.

Malik Nabers injury update: Will WR play in Week 17 vs. Jaguars?

Nabers was a no-show in practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was a limited participant on Friday. His lack of reps and game status being listed as questionable prompted doubts about whether he'd suit for the Giants' home finale against the Colts on Sunday.

However, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that he's expected to play. On NFL Fantasy Live, he said:

"It seems like every week, we're talking about a Malik Nabers injury... My understanding is (he) looked good in practice today, (and) is expected to play."

Nabers will likely undergo a fitness test on Sunday before being cleared to play.

Malik Nabers stats: How has the WR fared this season?

The Giants offense is one of the worst in the league. They rank 28th in passing yards (185.3) and 32nd in points (14.3) per game. Despite playing on a dismal unit, Nabers has shone.

The wide receiver has caught 97 passes, which ranks fifth in the league, and has 969 receiving yards, which is third-most among rookies behind Jacksonville Jaguars' Brian Thomas Jr. (1,088) and Las Vegas Raiders' Brock Bowers (1,067).

Nabers has put up these numbers despite missing two games and catching passes from three different quarterbacks, making it even more impressive. The 2024 season is among the most forgettable in the Giants' 99-year history. But they will be glad their heavily scrutinized decision to draft a wide receiver with the sixth overall pick in the draft was vindicated.
