The New York Jets brought in wide receiver Mike Williams this offseason to help bolster their receiving core and give quarterback Aaron Rodgers another weapon. Williams departed from the Los Angeles Chargers after seven seasons.

In his time with the Chargers, Williams had two seasons where he recorded more than 1,000 receiving yards and had 309 receptions for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns. Williams was brought in to take some pressure off Garrett Wilson. Wilson has had two straight 1,000-yard seasons for the Jets and has been the only consistent receiver they've had.

Williams suffered an ACL tear in Week 3 of the 2023 season and has been recovering for most of the offseason. Throughout the Jets' first two games this season, he's only had one reception for 19 yards on his lone target.

Yes, Mike Williams will play on Thursday night when the New York Jets take on the New England Patriots. His name didn't appear on the team's injury report on Wednesday.

As he gets ready to play in his third game as a Jet, Williams is expected to have an increased workload heading into the contest. Jets coach Robert Saleh said the team will continue to get Williams more involved.

"He feels good," Saleh said. "That was one of the first questions we asked him yesterday. He feels really good. He had 35 snaps from my understanding, so he wants more and his body feels good, so we're going to continue to get him involved."

The New York Jets will host the New England Patriots tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The game will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video and can be streamed via Fubo.

Both AFC East teams enter tonight's divisional battle with a 1-1 record. The New York Jets suffered a Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and then bounced back with a Week 2 victory against the Tennessee Titans.

The Patriots had the opposite in their first two weeks. They earned a Week 1 win against the Cincinnati Bengals and then fell to the Seattle Seahawks in an overtime loss in Week 2.

As both teams remain tied in second place in the AFC East, a win will catapult the winning team in the division.
