Is Nick Chubb playing today? Latest on Browns RB for Week 6 fantasy football matchup vs Eagles

The 1-4 Cleveland Browns will face what will serve as their toughest test yet when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon. A lot was expected of the Browns but through five weeks of football, their 1-4 record sees them settle at third in the AFC North standings just above the equally disappointing Cincinnati Bengals.

As the Browns prep to go up against the Eagles this afternoon, the franchise will have to make do without its star running back Nick Chubb. The franchise officially opened the practice window for Chubb last week but Week 6's matchup against Philadelphia will be too soon for the star running back.

Is Nick Chubb playing today vs Eagles?

The Browns' official injury report has Chubb listed as out for the Week 6 game against the Eagles owing to a knee issue.

Chubb is aiming to make a comeback from an ACL injury he suffered early last season. The franchise placed Chubb on the PUP list to start the year which meant he was ruled out for the first four games.

While there was optimism that he would be ready for this week, the Browns are being patient with their lead running back considering the severity of his injury.

Earlier this year, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot noted that the plan was to have Chubb ready midway through the season:

"I think the hope was always that Chubb, on Physically Unable to Perform for at least the first four weeks, would be ready midway through the season, possibly by Week 8 against the Ravens, Week 9 against the Chargers or perhaps after the bye in Week 10."

At this rate, it seems likely that Chubb will be fit for Week 7 against their division rivals the Bengals, considering he was a limited participant in practice all week.

In Chubb's absence, the Browns have turned to Jerome Ford to lead the backfield alongside D'Onta Foreman.

The Browns-Eagles game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. (EDT) kickoff live from Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be broadcast on FOX.
