The Kansas City Chiefs have been sweating on Patrick Mahomes' fitness ahead of their crunch AFC Championship match against the Cincinnati Bengals. The star quarterback was dealing with a high ankle sprain ahead of the game on Sunday.
Mahomes suffered the injury late in the Divisional Round win against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend, but is listed as active on the Kansas City roster and will start for the Chiefs in their AFC title game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters on Friday and confirmed that Mahomes will be leading the team's offense this weekend.

“He (Mahomes) looks good. He’s moving around good. He’ll go out and play.”
Mahomes trained with the team over the past few days in the build-up to the game. He looked in good spirits as well. The 27-year-old is bound to play a big role for his side in Sunday's contest against the Bengals.
How has Patrick Mahomes fared this season?
Patrick Mahomes is enjoying another spectacular season with the Chiefs this campaign. The quarterback racked up a whopping 5,250 yards on 435 passes during the regular season with 41 touchdowns.
The five-time Pro Bowler also added 358 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground, propelling Kansas City to the best record in the AFC and giving them a first-round bye in the playoffs.
Mahomes carried forward his excellent run into the playoffs by throwing for 195 yards on 22 passes and two touchdowns against the Jaguars last weekend and the Chiefs will be banking on him to continue his form when the Bengals visit Arrowhead Stadium.
However, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has never lost to Mahomes and has a 3-0 head-to-head record over the Chiefs star in the NFL. Mahomes will be hoping to snap that record on Sunday and subsequently lead Kansas City to another Super Bowl.
