Is Russell Wilson injured? Latest on Steelers QB for Fantasy Football Week 4

"What happened to Russell Wilson?" is a question the Pittsburgh Steelers would have been bound to ask were it not for Justin Fields grabbing his opportunities with both hands. After three weeks of football, the Steelers are top of the AFC North with three straight wins, above the Baltimore Ravens (1-2), Cleveland Browns (1-2) and Cincinnati Bengals (0-3).

Wilson has missed all three games owing to a calf injury he picked up in training. With Wilson out of the picture, Fields took a while to get going but has thrown 518 yards and two touchdowns with a 95.3 QBR.

Considering Wilson's injury isn't a long-term one, there was hope that he would make it back in time for Week 3. On Tuesday, September 24, coach Mike Tomlin delivered an update on his quarterbacks, saying that they are preparing to start Fields in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts with Wilson's injury still a concern.

Is Russell Wilson still injured?

Going by Tomlin's comments, Russell Wilson is still limited in practice. His chances of participating in Week 4 action will depend on how the next few days play out. If Wilson manages to be a full participant in training on Thursday and Friday, Tomlin will likely have to consider his options.

The Steelers head coach added that it's "not necessary" for the franchise to name Justin Fields as the starting quarterback. When pushed about a timeline on a concrete decision, Tomlin said they will make one when Wilson "gets to an appropriate point of health."

All things considered, Tomlin appears optimistic about having Russell Wilson back sooner rather than later.

There was also some concern about the backfield this week with both Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris nursing injuries. Harris was pictured with a sling on his right arm whereas Warren is scheduled to get an MRI on his knee.

However, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Harris is expected to be fit in time for Week 4 against the Colts.
