Russell Wilson suffered a head injury in the Denver Broncos' Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The quarterback was placed in the NFL's concussion protocol after he was spotted with a bump on the side of his forehead.
Although Wilson has cleared the concussion protocol, he will not play for the Denver Broncos in Week 15. Instead, the Broncos will field Brett Rypien as their starter in the game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Wilson reportedly informed Hackett that he was ready to play against the Cardinals. However, the team didn't want to take a chance by risking Wilson's health by rushing him back into action.

While speaking to reporters on Friday, Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett revealed that the franchise wanted to give Wilson a rest in Week 15.
"As an organization, we decided to give [Wilson] another week to get ready, so he's ready to go for the Los Angeles Rams. We informed him of the decision. He's not happy with it. He wants to be out there and play. But we as an organization, after talking and discussing for this entire week, have decided it's best for our organization, best for Russell."
Russell Wilson's stats in the 2022-23 NFL season
Russell Wilson has had quite a harsh season in his first year with Denver. The quarterback has thrown for 2,805 yards with 11 touchdowns, completing just 60.4 percent of his passes. He has also added 215 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground across the 12 games he has started.
This has been Wilson's worst campaign in the NFL across his 11 years. There was plenty of hype when he signed for Denver in the offseason, but he has clearly failed to live up to expectations. The Broncos are currently out of playoff contention with a 3-10 record.
There is some uncertainty over Wilson's future in Denver after his disappointing debut season. Hence, it will be interesting to see whether the Broncos will look to continue with him moving forward. If anything, Wilson will have to impress the Broncos' organization in the final few games of the regular season.
