Is Saquon Barkley playing today? Eagles RB's status revealed for Week 18 clash vs. Giants

Saquon Barkley is a near-unstoppable force in his day. The veteran running back has been sensational for the Philadelphia Eagles, and he'll be poised to lead them to a genuine push for Super Bowl glory by the time the playoffs roll around.

However, before the postseason begins, the Eagles have a Week 18 game against the New York Giants. Let's examine whether Barkley will feature in his team's last game of a thoroughly impressive season.

Is Saquon Barkley playing today?

Saquon Barkley is unlikely to play in today's regular-season finale against the New York Giants. The superstar running back is among the starters that coach Nick Sirianni has chosen to rest for today's game. The Eagles have little to play against the Giants, and their coach has decided to keep his starters fresh for a wildcard round matchup on the next matchday.

However, according to the Philadelphia Eagles' official website, Barkley is doubtful. He did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday but had limited participation on Friday. Plus, Sirianni could let Barkley play and break Eric Dickerson's long-time rushing yards record.

Barkley isn't the only player likely to sit out of today's game against the Giants. Zack Baun, A.J. Brown, Nakobe Dean, Jalen Carter, Landon Dickerson, Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Darius Slay and DeVonta Smith are doubtful. Jalen Hurts will surely miss the game due to a concussion and left finger injury.

How has Saquon Barkley performed in the regular season?

Saquon Barkley has enjoyed a historic first season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The veteran running back has quieted the doubters by being the best running back in the NFL and an outside contender for the MVP award.

Barkley has amassed a stat line of 345 carries, 2,005 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. He has also added a respectable 33 catches, 278 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns for good measure. He's a favorite for the Offensive Player of the Year Award as he leads the league in carries and rushing yards by a country mile.

The Eagles have been dominant this season and go into the playoffs with a 13-3 record. They'll face Barkley's former team, the New York Giants, and look to end the regular season with a victory in front of their home fans.
