"It's gotta be Sam Darnold, right?" - NFL fans drop predictions as league announces Comeback Player of the Year finalists

The NFL announced 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award finalists on Thursday. The five finalists are Joe Burrow, Sam Darnold, J.K. Dobbins, Christian Gonzalez, and Damar Hamlin.

NFL fans took to social media to discuss their beliefs about who should win the award.

"What does the comeback player of the year even mean anymore? It used to mean you came back from an injury," one person commented.

"Hard not to give it to Darnold, but Dobbins is definitely up there. Gun to my head? Sam wins it," another commenter said.

However, not everyone backs Darnold as the Comeback Player of the Year.

"Hamlin. Went from starting (bc of injury) to dead to inactive to starting and playing at good level. If not him then Dobbins," a fan wrote.

"It's a Burrow v Dobbins race. No idea why Gonzalez is here, Hamlin is a season too late, Darnold only came back from having bad coaches," another fan posted.

"Gonzo went down his rookie season with an early season ending injury. Comes back his sophomore NFL season and is an all pro the ONLY all pro on this list....Damar was in the running last year for comeback POTY he just gunna be there every year? Darnold came back from what? Being a sh**ty quarterback? Burrow comes back from being a Top 4 QB to being a top 4 QB. Gonzo is the only correct answer," another commenter wrote.

The award will be handed out during NFL Honors on Feb. 8, so it will be intriguing to see which player can take home the Comeback Player of the Year Award this season.
