Trevor Lawrence was arguably the most hyped NFL prospect since Peyton Manning and possibly Andrew Luck. The Clemson University alum has been receiving acclaim since his high school days, and he sure did not disappoint during his time in the NCAA tournament.
Lawrence led a decently talented Clemson University side to the NCAA tournament championship game in 2020-21, and even though he lost, he bolstered his reputation in the process. As such, it didn't come as a surprise when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him as the first overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Lawrence was part of a stacked QB class, but there was never any doubt that the blonde-haired shot caller was going first overall. Lawrence stepped into the NFL as part of a dysfunctional Jaguars side coached by Urban Meyers of college football fame. Unfortunately, the Urban Meyers experience didn't work in Jacksonville, and the side slumped to yet another losing season.
However, following the firing of Meyers, a solid preseason, and a change in approach, the real Trevor Lawrence has stood up. The second-year QB was the jewel in Jacksonville's crown as they made the postseason in only his second year of leading QB duties. That surprised many analysts, but fans of Lawrence shouldn't be. However, the Jaguars can't celebrate just yet, as Lawrence is battling a toe injury that was aggravated in their week 18 division-clinching game against the Tennessee Titans.

An update on Trevor Lawrence's toe injury
Lawrence sustained the injury in the Jaguars' week 13 loss to the Detroit Lions. Since then, he has been a regular on the Jaguars' injury report. However, since sustaining that injury, Lawrence has not missed a single NFL game.
As such, there shouldn't be any reason for Jaguars' fans or neutrals to fret. Lawrence and the Jaguars will start their wildcard matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, and hopefully, he'll be fit enough to make an impact.
Trevor Lawrence fantasy outlook
Trevor Lawrence was a fantasy football icon in his second season in the National Football League. Lawrence started the season slowly, but he picked up form in the middle of the season and closed out the season spectacularly. Lawrence improved in every statistical category in his sophomore season and earned a place in the top 10 of fantasy point-scoring QBs for the season.
Lawrence should be ready for the Jaguars' wildcard matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. He and his offensive weapons will look to take advantage of an iffy Chargers secondary.
How is Trevor Lawrence performing this season?
Trevor Lawrence has performed amazingly this season and has played football well beyond his tender NFL years. The Clemson University alum has improved his ball retention, yards generation, and his NFL QB IQ throughout the 2022 NFL season. He will look forward to a matchup against fellow elite young QB Justin Herbert as they meet in the AFC Wild Card Playoffs.
Lawrence padded up the stat sheet in his second full NFL season. He put up a stat line of 4,113 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions in 17 games.
