Jacoby Jones was found dead in his New Orleans home on July 14, 2024. The former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver was 40 years old.
According to TMZ, Jones died from Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease. TMZ reported that the XLVII Super Bowl champion died from a heart disease caused by long-term high blood pressure. The reports put an end to the uncertain nature surrounding Jones' death.
Jacoby Jones had a successful NFL career
The Houston Texans drafted Jacoby Jones in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Jones was fresh off an impressive collegiate football career at Lane College, where he was a four-time Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection.

Upon entering the NFL, Jones quickly became the Texans’ go-to punt returner, amassing 286 punt return yards in his rookie season. He remained with the Texans for five seasons, eventually adding pass-catching duties to his player profile. As a member of the Texans, Jones amassed a stat line of 2,733 receiving yards, 14 receiving touchdowns and four return touchdowns.
He joined the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the 2012 NFL season. With the Ravens, Jones enjoyed the most successful stint of his career.
The Lane product earned a Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection in 2012 and contributed to the team's Super Bowl XLVII win. He remained with the Ravens until the end of the 2014 NFL season before being released on February 25, 2015.
Jones split some time between the San Diego Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2015 season before calling it a career. He retired with 203 receptions, 2,733 receiving yards, 14 receiving touchdowns, 7,628 return yards and four return touchdowns. Jones signed a one-day contract to retire with the Baltimore Ravens, as he considered himself a Raven for life, and the franchise agreed with the sentiment.
After retiring, Jones coached at Lane College, Calvert Hall College High School, Morgan State University and Alabama State University. He is remembered fondly by his former teammates, coaches and opponents.
