According to Sportskeeda's Fantasy Draft simulation, Jahmyr Gibbs is in line for a breakout season. As such, making a move on him most likely will pan out quite well. Of course, picking the time to select him in the fantasy draft is the million-dollar question.
Jahmyr Gibbs fantasy outlook in 2024
According to Sportskeeda's Fantasy Draft simulation, Gibbs is in line for a season that could challenge the entire league to be the most productive. This year, he is expected to earn 1327 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. However, he won't be done there. He will also earn about 450 receiving yards and around two receiving touchdowns for a total approaching 1800 total yards and 16 touchdowns.
Is Jahmyr Gibbs a good pick in fantasy football this year?
At face value, Gibbs is a no-brainer decision. However, one alarming development with Gibbs is worth keeping an eye on. Gibbs suffered a hamstring injury on Aug. 12, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. As such, the extent of the damage is unknown.
Some hamstring injuries heal with no added trouble. However, some can follow a player throughout the season. Until more is known, managers should head into the season with him carefully.
That said, unlike running backs in other situations, Gibbs receives the benefit of playing for one of the best offensive line units in the NFL. As such, even if he doesn't play at 100% health at any time this year, the running back could be set up for a productive season thanks to sizable holes at the line of scrimmage.
Our fantasy analyzer has Gibbs' projected points total at 342 points for the season.
Where should you draft Jahmyr Gibbs this year?
Put simply, if the hamstring injury gets the green light with an expected full recovery by the start of the regular season, he should be drafted almost as soon as possible. Perhaps only Christian McCaffrey should be drafted ahead of Gibbs, based on numbers from the simulator. However, if he gets a yellow light or worse, he automatically should be treated as a second or third-round running back.
Entering Week 1, Gibbs ranks as RB5 in our 2024 fantasy football RB rankings.
