Jahmyr Gibbs, a running back for the Detroit Lions, was selected at the 2023 NFL Draft as the #12 overall pick. The Dalton, Georgia-born Gibbs attended Dalton High School in his hometown, where he led the state with more than 2,500 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns during his senior year for which he was named First-team All-State and Georgia 6-A Offensive Player of the Year. Following this, a three-star recruit opted for the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2020, before transferring to the University of Alabama two years later. His best statistical year during his collegiate tenure came at Alabama when he rushed for 926 yards and added another 444 in the receiving game. He was named to the Second-team All-American twice and the first-team All-ACC once during his collegiate career.

In his career, Gibbs has played in 27 regular season games with the Lions during which he has recorded 1,918 yards on 345 attempts. The dual-threat running back has also accumulated 598 receiving yards in his NFL tenure as of week 13 of the 2024 NFL season. In Gibbs’ debut season, he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and Pro Bowl.
