The Green Bay Packers selected cornerback Jaire Zakar Alexander in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was born in Philadelphia and moved to Charlotte, his father’s hometown later on. Alexander attended the Rocky River High School in Mint Hill, North Carolina. He initially committed to play for the University of South Carolina but changed to the University of Louisville. Alexander decided to forgo his senior year and enter the 2018 NFL Draft. The Packers and Alexander signed a four-year $12 million fully guaranteed deal which included a $6.8 million signing bonus. Alexander made his first appearance in the season-opener against the Bears. In his rookie year, Alexander started 11 games recording 66 total tackles.

Alexander started all 16 games he played in the following season. He made his first Pro Bowl appearance in the 2020-21 season. The Packers opted for the fifth-year option on Alexander’s contract which guaranteed $13.3 million in the 2022 season. After starting 16 games in the regular season, Alexander recorded 43 solo tackles. In May 2022, Alexander signed a four-year extension contract with the Packers worth $84 million including a $30 million signing bonus.

His father comes from North Carolina where he eventually grew up and started his football career. He admits to never being involved with football in Philadelphia and also credits North Carolina and his high school for his football career.
