The San Francisco 49ers placekicker Jake Moody was born on November 23, 1999. Moody went straight into action in Week 1 of the 2023 regular season. As the 49ers faced the Pittsburgh Steelers, he made all 3 field goal attempts as well as the 3 extra point attempts on his debut. He scored a 57-yard field goal in the following week, which was recorded as the longest successful field goal by a rookie kick in franchise history. Moody played in 16 games of his first regular season with an 87.5% overall field goal rate.

He also attempted 58 extra points scoring all of them. Moody also set the longest streak of 58 straight extra points ‘add since changed in the NFL extra point line. Moody is an accurate kicker, especially within 50 yards. He played for the youth soccer teams giving him the traits of kicking. His conversion rate throughout his career has been among the elite players.

Moody attended the University of Michigan playing for the Wolverines. His college put him on scholarship despite the linebacker being committed without any scholarship at the start. In his freshman year, Moody set a single-game record with six field goals in a victory over Indiana.

Moody’s senior year was one of his best as he was named the 2021 Bakken-Anderson Big Ten Kicker of the Year. He scored 22 of 24 field goal attempts and had 100% accuracy in extra-point kicks that year. Moody also scored a game-winning field goal. Moody’s college stats are above average and he is honourably mentioned in many lists.

Moody attended Northville High School in Michigan while growing up. He also played baseball along with football there. Moody was kicking field goals over 50 yards and was among the best kickers in the state in high school. He was also named to the Free Press’ 2017 All-State Dream Team. Moody's high school career has also seen a state record for his 39 career field goals while his 58-yarder is tied for the second-longest in state history.

Moody was selected in the third round (99th overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft. Moody's Draft is special as he became the second kicker to be selected within the top 100 picks in the past 15 NFL drafts. The 49ers liked Moody’s mindset as they looked to replace Gould. Moody was the first among the three kickers selected in the Draft. The 49ers and Moody signed a four-year contract worth $5.45 million which included a $850k signing bonus.
