Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter woke up today and found himself slapped with an arrest warrant for reckless driving and racing.
On Jan. 15, 2023, Carter's teammate Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy were killed in a vehicular accident. Upon being investigated, Carter stated that he was over a mile away from the car. Today, news circled around that showed Carter was much closer to the car and was even able to see its taillights during the fatal crash.
Carter was supposed to speak to the media at the NFL Combine this morning to address the news, but he didn't and won't be available for the rest of the week.

He broke his silence about the investigation on Twitter, claiming he would be fully exonerated of any wrongdoing.
Carter tweeted:
"This morning I received a telephone call from the Athens Georgia Police Department informing me that two misdemeanor warrants have been issued against me for reckless driving and racing. Numerous media reports also have circulated this morning containing inaccurate information concerning the tragic events of January 15, 2023.
"It is my intention to return to Athens to answer the misdemeanor charges against me and to make certain that the complete and accurate truth is presented. There is no question in my mind that when all of the facts are known that I will be fully exonerated of any criminal wrongdoing."
How will Jalen Carter's draft stock be affected following his arrest warrant?
Could we see Jalen Carter fall significantly in the draft after the news of his arrest warrant? Oftentimes, players are caught in unfortunate situations around the time of the NFL draft.
If Carter is charged, his draft stock could plummet significantly. He could go from possibly the first pick in the draft to a later-round pick or not drafted at all.
Jalen Carter recorded 32 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and three pass deflections this season and was named a unanimous All-American. He recorded 37 tackles and three sacks last campaign as a sophomore.
