The starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles is the 26-year-old Jalen Hurts (as of September 2024). He was born to parents Pamela and Averion Hurts and has a younger sister and an older brother who was a starting quarterback for Texas Southern University. Hurts first entered the league in 2020 when the Eagles selected him in the second round. He was initially the third-string quarterback, but very quickly made his way to the backup quarterback role behind Carson Wentz. By his second year with the Eagles, Jalen was given the responsibility of leading the team as their starter. However, his breakout year came in the 2022 season, when he led the Eagles to a superb Super Bowl berth. With three rushing touchdowns, he tied the Super Bowl record with the legendary Terrell Davis.
After reaching the Super Bowl and getting a 5-year extension in the 2023 offseason, expectations were already set high. Hurts and Eagles started red hot in the 2023 season with a 10-1 record, but the offense which was showing slight cracks since the start of the year, came back to bite them in the second half of the season, as they went on to lose 5 of their last 6 games. With bringing new OC Kellen Moore into the building, pressure is on Jalen Hurts to find his 2022 form back once again for the 2024 season.
