Before we get into any of what Jalen Hurts does on the field, it is important to establish that he is one of the strongest quarterbacks in the NFL today. In college, Hurts did a one-rep max of 600 lbs which is absolutely insane for a QB. Meanwhile, Jason Kelce stated that Hurts can deadlift as much as Kelce can. It is almost impossible to bring down Hurts as he can shrug off contact and hold his own with his superhuman strength.

Hurts’ journey to stardom in the NFL has been incredible. His father was as tough as he could be on him and held Hurts to the highest of standards. Hurts embraced his father’s tough love and elevated his game to the next level. That has continued in the NFL as Hurts is a coach’s kid and has been following Eagles’ head coach Nick Sirianni’s leadership. This has resulted in a lot of success as the Eagles are one of the best teams in the NFL.

In college, Hurts was incredible for Alabama. While he was great, in the 2018 College Football Playoff championship game versus Georgia, Hurts was benched due to his subpar performance. He was extremely mature and understood the call that Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban took.

After spending two seasons with Alabama, Hurts decided to play his final year of eligibility in Oklahoma. It is reported that Hurts took advice from coach Saban, who suggested that Hurts play for a team that had the best surrounding talent, which was Oklahoma. Ultimately, Hurts took his coach’s advice and committed to the Sooners. With the Sooners, Hurts had his best college football season and was an NFL-ready player.

However, Hurts had to wait all the way till the second round of the 2020 NFL draft to get picked by the Philadelphia Eagles as the 53rd pick. This was a surprising and bizarre move for a lot of the Eagles fans because they had just signed Carson Wentz to a massive $128 million deal. Hurts served as a backup for the squad. However, the Eagles gave Hurts the keys to the franchise and never looked back.

He was the youngest quarterback to start in a playoff game in the franchise’s history at just 23. While they were bounced out of the playoffs by the Buccaneers, going up against Tom Brady, Hurts took his game to another level the following season. He led the Eagles to an 8-0 start which had never been done before in the franchise’s history and then led them to a Super Bowl appearance in 2022. However, 2023 was a disappointment for Hurts as not only his team got blown out against the Buccaneers in the Wild Card round but individually too, Jalen threw 15 interceptions (career-high) in the regular season. After starting 10-1, Hurts led Eagles lost 5 out of the next 6 games, which made them finish 2nd in their division with a 11-6 record.

Jalen Hurts’ 40 time

Hurts clocked in his 40-yard dash at 4.59 seconds which ranked him at the 90th percentile. This was no surprise as he is one of the most athletic quarterbacks we have ever seen. Given his superhuman strength and work ethic, there was little to no doubt about his Combine performance. He also had a broad jump of 125.0 (10.4 feet) and a vertical jump of 35 inches which is absolutely crazy to think about.

Hurts is one of the best players in the NFL today. He was ranked as the third-best player in the top 100 NFL player list for the 2023 season. Even after a down year, he was ranked 15th by his peers in the top 100 NFL player list for 2024 season.
