Jalen McMillan's availability has become a source of concern for Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans and fantasy managers ahead of Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season. The Bucs have dealt with multiple injuries throughout the season, including two of their top wide receivers, Mike Evans (out for several weeks) and Chris Godwin (out for the season).

The Buccaneers have struggled to find consistency this season and after another loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8, they now hold a 4-4 record. A loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday could drop them further, making it crucial to have all their weapons available for this matchup.

Should fantasy managers worry about Jalen McMillan for fantasy football Week 9?

Jalen McMillan was one of several players with uncertain status for Monday Night's game against defending champions Kansas City Chiefs. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, McMillan, as well as other key players, have been listed as questionable for this game.

"The #Bucs listed RB Bucky Irving (toe), WRs Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Jalen McMillan (hamstring) and S Antoine Winfield Jr. (foot) as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the #Chiefs."

What happened to Jalen McMillan?

The rookie wide receiver was a limited participant in Saturday's practice. He was added to the injury report on Saturday, which suggests that he suffered the injury during this session. The Bucs will confirm his status about 90 minutes before Monday night's kick-off at Arrowhead Stadium.

Mike Evans and Chris Godwin's absence opened the door for McMillan to step up and lead the Buccaneers offense. He has racked up 10 receptions for 109 yards and one touchdown. McMillan caught four passes for 35 receiving yards against the Falcons, but his team succumbed to Atlanta 31-26.

Jalen McMillan is considered the WR42 for this week by ESPN. He's projected to be targeted six times, catch four passes for 46 yards and a total production of 10.54 fantasy points.

Baker Mayfield is coming off a three-touchdown performance against the Falcons, but none of them connected with McMillan. The rookie could have a much better game on Monday, if available, and make a bigger impact for Tampa.

That said, he needs to be cleared to play before anything, so if you're a fantasy manager, a decision regarding McMillan will be complex.
