Jalen Ramsey is an American professional football cornerback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. Born in Smyrna, Tennessee on October 24, 1994, to Lamont and Margie Ramsey. He grew up with a passion for football. Before transferring to Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, he attended Ensworth High School in Nashville. At Brentwood, he not only played football but also participated in track and field. He took part in the long jump, 100 meters and shot put, setting a school record in the long jump with a mark of 25 '3.25". In addition to this, he also recorded a top throw of 49’11” in the shot put. Returning to his high school football career, he received five-star ratings from both Rivals.com and Scout.com. Subsequently, he committed to playing college football at Florida State University, where he played from 2013 to 2015. After his junior year, he opted out of his senior season and entered the 2016 NFL Draft.

He began his NFL journey after being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. Ramsey has played for three NFL teams in his eighth-season career including the Jaguars, the Los Angeles Rams and his current home, the Miami Dolphins.

Ramsey attended Florida State University. Despite initially committing to play college football at the University of Southern California, he eventually committed to playing for Florida State Seminoles at Florida State University.

Throughout his collegiate career, Ramsey chose to wear different jersey numbers, wearing number #13 as a freshman, #8 for his sophomore and junior years and eventually choosing to wear jersey number #17 for kick returns as a junior. During his time at Florida State, he played in 41 games contributing with five sacks, 22 passes defended, three interceptions and four forced fumbles. Additionally, some prestigious achievements are also associated with his name, including being named First-team All-ACC consecutively in 2014 and 2015, a Second-team All-American in 2014 and a consensus All-American in 2015. Ramsey and Florida State won the BCS National Championship in the 2013 college football season with a 34-31 victory against the Auburn Tigers at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.

He also participated as a relay sprinter and long jumper in track and field At Florida State. At both the indoor and outdoor ACC T&F Championship, he earned third place in the long jump. He also played a crucial role in the conference champion 4×100 relay team at the outdoor meet. He was acknowledged three times as an All-ACC honoree for his contribution to the Florida State Indoor and Outdoor championship track and field team in 2013.
