In the following season, Williams broke the NFL record of Phillip Lindsay when he carried the ball for the 585th time in his career. He continued his brilliant performance in the upcoming seasons where in the 2022 season he finished his final season with the Lions and in the following season he recorded career-high stats. After having a great run with the Green Bay Packers in 2023 Williams signed a new deal with the New Orleans Saints worth $12 million.
