Jamaal Williams currently plays for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2017 and was selected with the 134th pick in the fourth round. Williams plays the running back spot and is famous for giving some of the most lively pre or post-game interviews. He has a nose for getting into the end zone. On or off the field, Williams is one of the most energetic personalities in the league.
Williams played college football for Brigham Young University and finished his four-year college football career with 4,468 rushing yards, 36 touchdowns (scrimmage TDs), and 5.7 yards from scrimmage per play. His first official game in the NFL came against the Seattle Seahawks and he walked away with a win. Williams had rushed for nine yards in his very first game. Later, Williams earned his first receiving touchdown against the Detroit Lions. He played for four seasons with the Green Bay Packers where he accumulated a total of 1985 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 961 receiving yards, and 8 receiving touchdowns.
After the 2020 NFL season, Williams signed a two-year deal with the Detroit Lions for $6,000,000 million. He had some of his best seasons with the Lions and Williams also broke the single-season record for most rushing touchdowns for a Lions player. The record was previously held by Barry Sanders who is one of the best players of all time. When a reporter asked Williams about the record, he had one of the most emotional and hilarious interviews of all time. Williams said, “I dedicated this game to my late-great grandfather and there is a lot of emotions happening right now.” Tears rolled down Williams’ eyes and he immediately changed his next statement to “Stop playing with us man, we the Detroit Lions. I don’t even watch T.V but I heard everybody picked the (Green Bay) Packers over us. Don’t let these tears fool you, it’s all dogs around us…”
He had an incredible two years with the Detroit Lions but after the 2022 season, William decided to change teams again and this time he signed a new 3-year $12 million deal with the New Orleans Saints.
Jamaal Williams’ 40-time
Williams clocked in his 40-yard dash at 4.59 seconds which was far from ideal in the Combine and it landed him in the 40th percentile. Williams was not a highly touted football player coming out of high school but has made quite a name for himself so far in his career.
So far with the Saints, Williams has recorded 280 rushing yards, 54 receiving yards and has only started in four games and has not had much of a chance to prove himself on the field. This is surprising because Williams is coming off of a historic season where he shattered records and had 17 rushing touchdowns in only 9 games as a starter.
