Now playing in his third season in the NFL, Ja’Marr Chase has quickly become one of the best modern-day receivers in the professional league. There is no doubt that as he continues to play in the league, he will be in the reckoning of the best receivers every year. Chase had an outstanding rookie campaign where he caught 81 receptions for 1,455 and had 13 touchdowns as well. He was easily the best wide receiver in his class that year and went on to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2021. He was also named to the Second-team All-Pro and earned his first Pro Bowl nomination.
Although Chase ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash, he is not known for his speed. What makes him a great receiver is his physical strength, naturally gifted hands, and good body control. His athleticism and route running are also at the top of his strengths. Chase has a simple mindset, when the ball is in the air, it will be caught either by him, the cornerback, or no one; and he motivates himself to be the best by wanting to be the one to catch the ball every time.

Ja'Marr Chase College
Chase attended college at Louisiana State University. Coming out of high school, he was a 4-star recruit and he had committed to playing at the University of Kansas and then the University of Florida before finally deciding to go to LSU.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ receiver played in all 10 of his freshman year games while starting eight of them. That year he had only 23 receptions for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, he took a huge leap in his sophomore year in 2019. He led the FBS with 1,780 yards receiving yards and 20 touchdowns that year.
Chase had 6 games where he caught for over 100 yards and 3 games in which he caught for over 200 yards. He was an instrumental player for the LSU Tigers not just throughout the season but also in the College Football Playoff championship game as he registered a record 221 yards against Clemson.
However, he skipped the 2020 college football season to concentrate on his future NFL career. Before the start of the season, he was assured that he would be a top pick in next year’s NFL draft and thus his agents convinced him to skip his junior season of football to avoid any possible injuries. Unfortunately, Chase was unable to enter the 2020 NFL Draft since the NFL does not allow players to join the league until after three years of leaving high school. Below is Chase's college stats for each year:
