There were hopes that James Cook - 63rd overall pick in this year's NFL draft, would assist Josh Allen in leading an efficient offensive system for the Buffalo Bills. Across the first 12 games for Buffalo, that has not happened.
The running back has been a bothersome member of the roster in fantasy leagues this campaign. The rookie has had a few good performances, but he's been primarily on and off.
Fortunately, Cook had a solid performance on Thursday in their victory over the New England Patriots. He added six catches for 41 yards in the air to his 14 rushes for 64 yards on the ground.

The outcome is undoubtedly pleasing for the fantasy managers who relied on Cook on Thursday. Unfortunately, Cook will face the New York Jets in Week 14 in another challenging game. He will be a tricky player to rely on as a flex choice for that one.
James Cook's stats and fantasy prediction
This season, James Cook has only managed a 17 percent snap rate. Since the Bills' opening game, he has also recorded an average of 1.6 targets and 12.2 yards per game despite posting 4.2 attempts and 23.5 yards per game. He has generally lacked consistency.
On 14 rushes, James Cook amassed 64 yards during Thursday's 24-10 victory over New England. Cook gained 41 yards by catching 100 percent of his targets (6).
In addition, Cook got four more targets in the passing game and outran Devin Singletary in carries by one. He showed good fighting spirit against a tenacious Patriots defense to probably get more touches in the future. Cook also matched his season high with five targets in Week 12.
In Week 14, the Bills and Cook will play the Jets in a crucial divisional game.
Cook doesn't have a good matchup against the Jets in the upcoming game, and it's impossible to predict how many touches he will receive. He's been too unreliable, so fantasy owners might be better off avoiding him this week.
Cook's pass-blocking abilities on third downs are probably not trusted by the Bills' offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.
As long as Singletary is fit, Cook is not a starting option due to his lack of red zone expertise and regular volume. Having said that, fantasy managers can keep stashing him.
If Cook is your first option this week, look for alternatives on the waiver wire. Better alternatives that ought to be accessible include Tennessee Titans RB Dontrell Hilliard and Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams.
