Jayden Daniels is an American football quarterback for the Washington Commanders in the NFL. The Washington Commanders drafted Daniels with the second pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. According to Washington Post, Daniels received training from the league on its gambling policy during his rookie offseason, after he and former LSU teammate, Malik Nabers, suggested a casual $10,000 wager on who would win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Daniels initially played collegiate football at Arizona State University from 2019-2021. However, Daniels accessed the transfer portal in February 2022, as a result of a large coaching staff transition that occurred after the season, during which multiple coaches were sacked as a result of an NCAA investigation into the team for recruiting violations relating to COVID-19. After transferring to Louisiana State University in 2022, Daniels was chosen as the team's MVP and was recognized as a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award. During the 2023 season, Daniels was the recipient of the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Aard, AP College Football Player of the Year and Manning Award and received unanimous All-American honors.
