Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was replaced at halftime in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Dallas Cowboys. He was replaced by backup Marcus Mariota, who did well, leading Washington to a fifth straight win after overcoming a deficit.

According to head coach Dan Quinn, Daniels' leg soreness kept him from finishing the Week 18 game. Despite simply holding a walkthrough, the rookie quarterback was listed with a quad ailment in the Commanders' first injury report of the week on Wednesday.

“I'm not concerned," Quinn said in his introductory press conference. "I'm feeling good going into the weekend. I'm actually feeling good on the team's health, so that's a good thing when you get to this time of year, heading into the guys. And hopefully having some guy back too.”

The LSU alum, however, revealed that he would have played through the problem if the last game had been a must-win game. Also, the team listed him as a full practice participant on Wednesday despite the injury.

Jayden Daniels' availability isn't expected to be affected by the quad injury, but keep an eye on how the next two Commanders’ practice sessions go this week.

The Commanders and their star quarterback will be looking to carry their regular season momentum into Sunday night when they play on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a wild-card playoff game.

After losing to the Bucs in Week 1 of the regular season, Washington will try to level the score in the playoffs and advance to the divisional round.

Jayden Daniels injury update: What happened to the Commanders' QB?

Jayden Daniels was hurt in the first half of their Week 18 victory over the Dallas Cowboys and had to leave the game at halftime.

There was some anxiety about Daniels' health, even though the decision to pull him at halftime was primarily for safety reasons.

That said, it is unlikely that the injury will keep the leading candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year from playing in the first postseason game of his career.

The Commanders will have a better shot at beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs if their key players are healthy.
