On Monday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid wasn't too optimistic about Watson returning to action anytime soon, even though the team still awaits the player's MRI.
"I don't think that's going to be great news," Reid said.
Watson suffered the ankle injury in the second half of the Chiefs' 28-18 win over the 49ers. He left the game and did not return. After the game, the cornerback was later spotted with crutches and a cast.
The Chiefs drafted Watson in the seventh round of the 2022 draft. He has helped Kansas City win two back-to-back Super Bowl titles.
This season, Watson has racked up 32 tackles, of which 21 have been solo. He also defended six passes in six appearances.
Since Watson is expected to be out for a while, the Chiefs will call upon Nazeeh Johnson and Joshua Williams to fill in their defense.
