Jaylen Wright is a gridiron football player who plays the running back position in college football. After his junior season in 2023, Wright has declared for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft and is projected to be drafted somewhere in the third round.

Standing at a height of 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m) and weighing around 210 lb (95 kg), Wright has an ideal frame for his position. He uses his speed and strength to his advantage making tacklers fight harder to bring him down. His explosive speed comes in very handy, especially in the open field as he has shown a tendency to run for long touchdowns. His pass-catching abilities from the backfield should also add another dimension to his game.

In spite of the many positives, Wright also has a few things holding him back. One of the key areas of improvement is his ability to naturally run linear on most runs which limits his game overall. In addition to that he has shown a lack of awareness in the backfield and has had fumbling issues during his time in collegiate football.

Jaylen Wright College

Jaylen Wright attended the University of Tennessee after passing out of high school. As a freshman in 2021, Wright had nine appearances on the Tennessee Volunteers football team in which he received 85 carries yielding 409 yards to go with his 4 rushing touchdowns.

Wright’s 2022 sophomore year was much better as he finished the year leading all rushers on the Volunteers team with 875 yards from 146 carries. Averaging around 6.0 yards per attempt, he added a further 10 rushing touchdowns to finish tied 4th in the SEC that year.

2023 was a great one for Wright. He finished his first season with over 1,000 rushing yards starting in all 12 games. His 1,013 rushing yards were achieved with an average of 7.39 yards per carry which was good enough for first place amongst all FBS running backs with a minimum of 120 touches.

Overall, Wright’s three years of college football with the Volunteers produced 2,297 rushing yards from 368 carries for an average of 6.2 yards per carry to go along with his 18 rushing touchdowns.
