Jeremy McNichols is a journeyman running back for the Washington Commanders but he could be thrust into a bigger role going forward. The Commanders are coming off a 34-26 loss to the Dallas Cowboys and will return to the field on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

Jeremy McNichols was a fifth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2017. Since then, he has bounced around different teams, and has only played 43 games in his career.

McNichols is the Commanders' third-string running back, but with Austin Ekeler dealing with a concussion, he will become the team's backup.

However, Washington still has Brian Robinson Jr. who's one of the top running backs in the NFL. With that, Robinson should get even more snaps which makes McNichols a non-factor in fantasy football.

Robinson Jr. did hurt his ankle, but given he returned to the game his outlook for Week 13 does look good.

"(He) came in for treatment today, ankle injury to go. We'll see how much work that he does during the week, so I'll have a better sense for you as we get further along," coach Dan Quinn said, via Yahoo.

Ekeler, meanwhile, is in concussion protocol and all the scans came back clear.

“Yes, Austin, [I] had a chance to visit with today, and fortunately, last night did all the scans, and that side came back good," Quinn said. "It certainly was sore, but he will be in the concussion protocol. But man, it was good to see him. Those are scary moments when those concussions like that take place."

If Ekeler can clear concussion protocol and return to the field on Sunday, that will only hurt McNichols' fantasy outlook even more.

Ultimately, Robinson returning to the game last Sunday should mean he will play in Week 13 and that will make McNichols not worthy of a waiver pickup in Week 13.
