Jermaine Curtis Johnson II is an American football linebacker for the New York Jets as of the 2024 NFL season. The Jets selected him as the 26th pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. According to Pro Football Reference, Johnson played in 14 games in his NFL rookie year totalling 29 tackles. The following year, Johnson played in all 17 games, recording 36 solo and 55 total tackles. In conclusion, he was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2023. In September 2024, Johnson announced that he had torn his Achilles tendon in the Jets' Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans and would be out for the rest of the season.

Growing up in Minnesota, he attended Eden Prairie High School. He was a three-star recruit rated by 247Sports.com. Johnson was ranked as the no.11 prospect in Minnesota and the no.105 prospect overall for weakside defensive end play. Johnson committed to Independence Community College in Kansas in 2017. He played in 17 games in his rookie year recording 58 tackles. After two seasons and 20 appearances, Johnson transferred to the University of Georgia. In his debut year with the Bulldogs in 2019, he played in 14 games recording 20 tackles according to Sports Reference. Johnson transferred to play for Florida State University in his senior year. He had a breakout season in 2021, as he received ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Johnson also made it to the First-team All-American and First-team All-ACC in 2021.
