Jerry Jones has found himself in the spotlight of late for a photo of himself, as a teenager back in 1957, at the North Little Rock High School. He is seen standing by during a protest against desegregation.
Many have shared their opinions on the Dallas Cowboys owner and the photo in question. One of those people is none other than NBA superstar LeBron James. However, Jones took the time to respond to LeBron's comments about the photo.
While speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said:
"First of all, you have to hear me say how much I think of LeBron. I don’t know of anybody that I respect more. I don’t know of anybody that’s taken every opportunity he’s had and maximized it. Not only (has he been) a great ambassador for sport, he has taken sports, he has taken his venues, and used those platforms – I want to be sure that you know where I’m coming from. It made buttons pop off my vest, so to speak, when he would talk about how much of a Cowboys fan he was."

LeBron, who recently said he's no longer a fan of the Cowboys, spoke about the photo after a recent Los Angeles Lakers game. He questioned the media as to why he wasn't asked about the picture.
"I was thinking when I was on my way over here, I was wondering why I haven't gotten a question from you guys about the Jerry Jones photo. I feel like as a Black man, as a Black athlete, as someone with power and a platform when we do something wrong or something that people don’t agree with, it’s on every single tabloid, every single news coverage, it’s on the bottom ticker. It’s asked about every single day."
The four-time NBA MVP was once a Dallas Cowboys fan, but recently said that he switched his loyalty to the Cleveland Browns. This came after the team's policy of players standing for the national anthem.
Jerry Jones and his comment on the infamous photo
Jerry Jones, after the Cowboys game versus the New York Giants on Thanksgiving Day, stated why he was there in the photo.
"I didn't know at the time the monumental event really that was going on. I'm sure glad that we're a long way from that. I am. That would remind me [to] just continue to do everything we can to not have those kinds of things happen."
For LeBron James and countless others, Jerry Jones' comments didn't go over too well as the controversy still lingers on. We'll see if the photo scandal goes away anytime soon.
