Jimmy Garoppolo during a Los Angeles Rams v San Francisco 49ers game

James "Jimmy G" Garoppolo, a quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, was drafted by the New England Patriots as the 62nd pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football for the Eastern Illinois Panthers, and as a senior, he won the 2013 Walter Payton Award. After being drafted by the Patriots, he played his first four seasons as Tom Brady's backup and was a part of two Super Bowl-winning teams in the 2014 and 2016 seasons.

Near the close of the 2017 season, Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he won the team's final five games to help turn around a 1-10 record. He led the 49ers to the top conference seed and an appearance in Super Bowl LIV in 2019, his most successful season. Also, in 2021, he led the team to an appearance in the NFC Championship Game. But he suffered injuries during his time in San Francisco, missing the majority of the 2018 and 2020 seasons. He joined the Los Angeles Rams after spending a year with the Las Vegas Raiders following another season-ending injury in 2022.
