Jimmy Garoppolo is an American professional football quarterback in the National Football League, playing for the Los Angeles Rams as of 2024. Born on November 2, 1991, he once took the San Francisco 49ers to the championship game and gave them new life. But injuries have prevented him from attaining his full potential. Jimmy has largely been absent during the NFL seasons of 2018, 2020, and 2022. The New England Patriots selected Jimmy with the 62nd overall choice of the 2014 NFL draft. Prior to signing with the 49ers, he signed a four-year contract with the Patriots. Jimmy won the Super Bowl in 2015 while serving as Tom Brady's backup quarterback.

Which teams has Jimmy Garoppolo played for?

Jimmy was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 2014 NFL Draft. Throughout his NFL career, he has played for multiple teams, New England Patriots (2014–2017), the San Francisco 49ers (2017–2022), the Las Vegas Raiders (2023), and the Los Angeles Rams (2024–present).

New England Patriots

In his rookie season, Garoppolo saw limited action but notably threw his first career touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski. During his second season, he appeared in five games, contributing minimally due to Tom Brady's dominance. Garoppolo played a supporting role in the Patriots' Super Bowl XLIX win, primarily aiding in preparing the defense.

San Francisco 49ers

Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers on October 31, 2017, for a second-round draft pick. His debut was promising, and he ended the 2017 season with a perfect 7-0 record in starts, showing remarkable efficiency. The 2019 season was a career highlight, leading the 49ers to Super Bowl LIV and finishing the season with 3,978 passing yards and 27 touchdowns. Despite a setback with an ACL injury in 2018, he was instrumental in the 49ers' playoff success in 2019.

Las Vegas Raiders

On March 17, 2023, Garoppolo signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting with former Patriots coach Josh McDaniels. His tenure with the Raiders was less successful, marred by an interception-heavy performance and a 3-5 start, leading to his benching in October 2023. He was released by the Raiders on March 13, 2024.

Los Angeles Rams

Garoppolo signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams on March 19, 2024. However, he will miss the first two games of the 2024 season due to a violation of the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.
