James William Johnson, also known as Jimmy Johnson, is an American former football coach and sports analyst as of February 2025. He attended the University of Arkansas and played as a defensive lineman for the Arkansas Razorbacks football team during his collegiate career. Johnson was the National Champion in 1964 and the SWC Champion twice, in 1961 and 1964. He was named to the First-team All-SWC in 1964. Johnson was inducted into the University's Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Arkansas State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988.

Johnson became the assistant coach of Louisiana Tech University in 1965 and of Picayune Memorial High School in 1966. The next year, he became the assistant coach of the Wichita State Shockers football team and later for the Iowa State Cyclones football in 1968-69. Johnson became defensive line coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks football team from 1973 to 1976. In 1977-78, he became the assistant head coach/defensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Panthers football team. In his coaching career, Johnson became head coach in 1979 for the Oklahoma State Cowboys football team, and later, he joined the Miami Hurricanes football team in 1984. He became the general manager/head coach/player personnel in 1989 for the Dallas Cowboys, a professional American football team that competes in the NFL. Johnson ended his coaching career as the head coach/player personnel of the Miami Dolphins from 1996 to 1999.
