As a senior in 2014, Burrow was named Ohio Division III Co-Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 63 touchdowns and almost 4,500 yards. Being rated as a four-star prospect by ESPN, Burrow committed to the Ohio State University in 2015. After being redshirted as a freshman in 2015, he saw action in six games with no starts in 2016. Burrow transferred to Louisiana State University for his junior year in 2018. He had a breakout senior season completing 402 passes for 5672 yards in 2019. Burrow was presented with several awards including the Heisman Memorial Trophy, AP National Player of the Year, Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award Winner and Davey O’Brien Award in 2019. Joe Burrow Jersey Number

Joe Burrow wears the number 9 with the Cincinnati Bengals, as of October 2024. He had the number even before his draft, as he wore the number 9 in his Louisiana State University days as well. Burrow played his final two seasons with the LSU Tigers.

During his time with the University of Oregon, Burrow was presented with the number 10. It was the number he had at Athens High School and continued to his collegiate career. Following his draft as the first overall pick, Burrow mentioned thinking about going back to the number 10 but did not proceed with it. He said “I had some not-so-great memories of 10 the last time I wore it," according to Bengals' reporter Ben Baby’s tweet. This possibly referred to his rough time wearing the number 10 in Ohio State, as he struggled for game time before switching his number to 9 following his transfer to LSU.
