Joe Mixon attended the University of Oklahoma where he played for the Oklahoma Sooners. Joe Mixon is an American football running back for the Houston Texans as of the 2024 NFL season. The Cincinnati Bengals selected him as the 48th overall pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Back in high school, he used to play football and basketball and was a standout player in both. He went to Freedom High School. In 2014, he enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and left after three seasons for the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent seven seasons with the Bengals, playing in 97 games (88 starts), totaling 1,571 carries for 6,412 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns. Mixon was traded to the Houston Texans in March 2024 for a seventh-round pick the same year.

Joe Mixon's College

Joe Mixon attended the University of Oklahoma. Rated as high as a five-star recruit, Mixon received 47 offers. However, he turned down all of them, including offers received from Alabama, California, Wisconsin, and UCLA, and committed to playing college football for the University of Oklahoma. However, he was suspended from the Oklahoma football team for the 2014 season after being charged with misdemeanor assault for physically assaulting Amelia Molitor. The assault involved punching Molitor, causing fractures in her face, leading to hospitalization and the need for surgery.

After serving his suspension, he made a comeback to the field and earned an opportunity to play during his redshirt freshman year. In 2015, he played in all 13 games, starting in four. He concluded the season with 753 rushing yards and secured seven rushing touchdowns, setting a career-high long carry at 66 yards. Additionally, he recorded 28 receptions, 356 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns.

In 2016, Mixon performed exceptionally well and recorded over 1,000 rushing yards, securing 10 rushing touchdowns. He also contributed significantly with 37 receptions, 538 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns in 12 games. He earned a spot on the first-team All-Big 12 as well. Additionally, in a 19-35 victory against Auburn during the Sugar Bowl, he recorded 91 rushing yards, securing two rushing touchdowns along with five receptions and an additional 89 receiving yards.

Joe Mixon's High School

Mixon played basketball and football for the Falcons while attending Oakley, California's Freedom High School. He started all three seasons for the Freedom High School Falcons football team as a running back. As a sophomore, he gained 1,134 yards and 13 touchdowns in 171 carries. He gained 1,443 yards and 21 touchdowns on 201 carries in his junior year of football. On 226 carries, he gained 1,704 yards and 23 touchdowns in his final year of football. He participated in 16 Falcons basketball games. He averaged 12.2 points per game, scored 79 field goals, and had a 57% free throw shooting percentage. That season, his team finished 10–0 in league play and 22–2 overall.
