Joe Mixon is a professional American football player in the NFL. He plays running back for the Houston Texans. Born on July 24, 1996, Mixon is a native of Oakley, California, U.S. He was selected in the 2017 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He was the 48th overall pick in the second round. The Bengals have been his home for the past seven seasons. In 97 games (88 starts), he has accumulated 1,571 carries for 6,412 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns. However, in March 2024, Mixon was traded for a seventh-round pick to the Houston Texans.

Mixon attended Freedom High School in Oakley, California He played both football and basketball. Because of his great football skills, it led to him being a five-star recruit. In January 2014, Mixon committed to playing college football at the University of Oklahoma, choosing it over 47 other offers, including notable programs like Alabama, California, Wisconsin, and UCLA. While there, in his first year, he faced suspension from the team for the entire 2014 season due to a misdemeanor assault charge in October of that year. By 2016, he had played in 25 games, starting nine of them, with 300 carries for 2,027 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, while 65 receptions and 894 receiving yards for nine touchdowns. After which, he skipped his senior years for the NFL Draft.
