Finding elite running backs in fantasy football can take any lineup to the next level. Jonathan Taylor and Kyren Williams both qualify for this, but it's fair to wonder which one makes for a better starter in Week 2 of the 2024 season. Here's how it all breaks down based on the recent performances and weekly matchups.

Jonathan Taylor began his career with the Indianapolis Colts by finishing as the RB6 and RB1 in his first two seasons. He finished outside of the top 30 running backs in each of his past two years, but some of that can be explained by him missing 13 total games with injuries during that time.

The veteran is expected to be the workhorse in the Colts' backfield this season and he got things started in Week 1 with 16 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown. He will look to increase his output in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers, who just allowed Saquon Barkley to score three touchdowns against them last week. This could mean a breakout game for Taylor.
Is Kyren Williams a good fantasy pick in Week 2?

Kyren Williams enjoyed a breakout season last year with the Los Angeles Rams. He finished as the RB2 in fantasy points per game, trailing only Christian McCaffrey. This made him one of the most popular running backs to target in the 2024 fantasy football drafts.
While Williams finished as just the RB22 last week against a tough Detroit Lions rushing defense, he played in 91% of the offensive snaps and totaled 21 touches. A similar volume against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 should produce bigger results for Williams. He is one of the best overall players to use in lineups this week.
Jonathan Taylor vs Kyren Williams: Who should I start in Fantasy Football Week 2?
While both running backs are elite options in Week 2 of the 2024 fantasy football season, Kyren Williams gets the edge over Jonathan Taylor as the preferred pick. His upside is massive in a potential shootout this week when the Rams face off against the Cardinals, especially considering his reliable volume since taking over as their starting running back.
Taylor also has a strong matchup this week, but his failure to record a reception last week and the presence of quarterback Anthony Richardson contributing to the Colts' rushing attack limit his upside a bit. This all makes Williams the better pick for Week 2 fantasy football lineups.
