Jordan Mason injury update: Latest on 49ers RB for Fantasy Football Week 8

Jordan Mason was a backup RB in his first two years with the San Francisco 49ers. Mason recorded a stat line of 43 carries, 258 rushing yards, and one TD in 2022 and 40 carries, 206 rushing yards, and three TDs in 2023.

However, due to Christian McCaffrey's injury issues in 2024, Mason has become the 49ers' de facto RB1. He has performed admirably in the role thus far.

Ahead of the 49ers' Week 8 matchup, let's take a look at Mason's injury status.

Jordan Mason's injury update

According to Ian Rapoport, Jordan Mason is leaning towards playing in Week 8, despite a shoulder issue.

Rapoport said,

"Jordan Mason has been a limited participant on both practice days so far this week, dealing with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder. It was the same thing as last week; he had 14 carries and seemed fine. I expect him to play. This actually might be the last game where Mason is the bell cow. 49ers have a bye, Christian McCaffrey should start practicing, and there’s a very good chance he’s on the field November 10th for their next game.”

This news comes as a huge sign of relief for 49ers fans, as the team is dealing with numerous injuries to key offensive players. Brandon Aiyuk is out for the season, McCaffrey remains on the comeback trail, and Deebo Samuel is dealing with health issues.

How has Jordan Mason performed this season?

Mason has been phenomenal this season, and his performances have been so good that the 49ers rush offense has hardly missed a beat. Mason has amassed a stat line of 128 carries, 667 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns. He ranks second in rushing yards and third in carries this season.

Mason's elite performances have helped steady the ship for the 49ers in what has been a tasking season. Last season's Super Bowl finalists enter Week 8 with a 3-4 record. They're up against the Dallas Cowboys in their upcoming game and will look to record a win against Jerry Jones' side ahead of their bye week.
