Josh Allen is the current starting quarterback of the Buffalo Bills franchise in the National Football League (NFL). At the helm of the Bills' offense from 2018, Allen has been at the forefront of the turnaround this franchise has seen in the past few years. Building a team around Allen and his wide receiver Stefon Diggs, the Bills have found ways to become constant playoff contenders and have had some good runs in the postseason thus far.

The now 27-year-old (as of December 2030) Allen was born on May 21, 1996, in Firebaugh, California. The two-time Pro Bowler grew up on his family farm about 40 miles west of Fresno, California and grew up as a fan of the Fresno State Bulldogs.

He was always quite competitive as he grew up with three siblings including two sisters and one brother. It is this competitive drive that he brings to the biggest stage of all as an NFL player.

Josh Allen NFL Draft

Allen is part of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was selected with the number 7 pick overall by the Buffalo Bills. The Bills traded up to the seventh position from their original number 12 as they negotiated a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Earlier in his high school and college career Allen faced quite a lot of difficulties getting himself noticed by the big schools as he graduated from the relatively less-known Firebaugh High School. As a result, he did not receive any offers from NCAA Division I schools.

After spending one year at Reedley College, California, Allen transferred to the University of Wyoming and played the remaining three years of his college eligibility on the Wyoming Cowboys football team. Finally, Allen got his chance to show everyone what he could do on the football field and he had a good junior year passing for over 3,203 yards, with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He also added 7 rushing touchdowns.

Even though his numbers in his senior year were much lower, he was still expected to be a high draft pick in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft with some even believing that he would be the number 1 overall pick.

Josh Allen NFL

Since the time he entered the league, Allen has been the starting signal caller for the Buffalo Bills. Although he took some time to get accustomed to the professional league, he has been the focal point on the back of whom the Bills have made 4 consecutive postseasons and have won their division 3 times in a row from 2020.

In 2020, Allen led the Bills to the AFC Conference Game where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. In the following two seasons, Allen has been the guiding force in getting the Bills to the Divisional round, but unfortunately, they have come up short on both occasions against the Chiefs in 2021 and the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022.

Allen, playing in his sixth NFL season as of 2023, already holds two NFL records.

  • He has the highest passer rating in a single postseason of 149.0 achieved in 2021.

  • He has the most career games with one passing and rushing touchdown with 10.
