One of the greatest stories in the NFL comes from the current Minnesota Vikings quarterback, Josh Dobbs. The signal-caller has two distinct traits which set him apart from his contemporaries on the field.

First of all, the Georgia-born star is academically sound and has earned a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Tennessee during his college days. Playing college-level football and earning a degree in a subject as tough as aerospace engineering requires a whole different level of commitment and talent.

Secondly, Dobbs has been suffering from the condition known as alopecia areata since he was only eight years old. This not only made his early life difficult to deal with, but it also put an enormous amount of mental stress during his teenage life when he lost patches of hair all over his body. However, despite the odds and his high level of dedication both on and off the field, Dobbs managed to fulfill his dream of playing in the NFL.

Josh Dobbs NFL Salary

As per Dobbs’ current contract, he is making a base salary of $1,500,000. He signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns prior to the 2023-24 NFL season which was worth $2,000,000. The contract terms include a $500,000 signing bonus and a guaranteed salary of $2,000,000.

Most quarterbacks who have a starting role on the team by year seven have already signed one or two major contracts and have earned a significant amount of money. Unfortunately, for Dobbs, his NFL career never really took off as he spent most of his time on the bench and bounced around the league.

However, with 2023 being a good year for the Tennessee Volunteers alumni, Dobbs could be set to earn a better role and gain significant playing time with a franchise that needs a quality starter, which in turn could earn him a much more lucrative offer.

How much money has Josh Dobbs made in the NFL?

In his seven-year career so far in the NFL, Dobbs has made nearly $7 million till November 2023. His NFL career has just gotten underway quite literally. Till now, he had received next to no game time and spent most of his time on the bench.

Come 2023, Dobbs has been part of two franchises and despite his dismal win-loss record, he has shown enough heart and fight to warrant a starting role on the Vikings offense after their franchise QB1 after Kirk Cousins has been ruled out for the season.

Dobbs, who was a 2017 4th-round selection, signed a rookie contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers worth $2,999,124 over 4 years. In 2021, he signed a one-year deal worth $1,040,000 with the Steelers and followed that up with another one-year deal worth $1,035,000 with the Tennessee Titans in 2022.

With his $2 million deal in 2023, Dobbs is set to make nearly $7.5 million by the end of the year, but his career earnings could skyrocket should he play well for the remainder of the season and bag a high-end deal before the next season.
