Joshua Hines-Allen is a professional American football defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. Allen was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the seventh overall choice. Hines-Allen ended his first season with 44 tackles, two forced fumbles, 11 sacks, and two starts with that he was also chosen for the Pro Bowl and the PFWA All-first Team. He then racked up 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2020 prior to being placed on injured reserve in 2020. The next season in 2021, Hines-Allen had 71 tackles, 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception—his best season as of 2024. In 2022, the Jaguars picked up Hines-Allen's fifth-year option on his contract. The following year, he inked a five-year contract deal with the Jaguars following his selection for the 2024 Pro Bowl.
Hines-Allen played college football at the University of Kentucky. Even though he led New Jersey in sacks, no other NCAA Division I university offered him a scholarship. In addition to being named a unanimous All-American at Kentucky, he also won the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, and the Chuck Bednarik Award. Prior to attending college, Hines-Allen played football for Montclair High School.
