Josh Jacobs has become a focal point for the Green Bay Packers ever since he joined them in the offseason. In eight games, he has had 667 yards and three touchdowns on 145 carries, as well as 115 yards and a touchdown on 17 catches.
His great role has also translated to a strong projection within the fantasy football realm. As of this writing, FantasyPros.com has him at RB14 ahead of the game against the conference-leading divisional rival Detroit Lions.
But there has been some concerning news lately, which may mean major wastage for managers planning to earn many points from him.

Josh Jacobs' Week 9 injury update
On Wednesday, Jacobs missed practice with an ankle injury. However, despite taking "four or five" hits to that part at Jacksonville, he strongly believes he will be on the field Sunday afternoon.
“I feel pretty good," Jacobs said. "I’ll be good for game time.”
His teammate Jordan Love, himself dealing with a groin injury that also caused him to miss Wednesday's practice, praised the two-time Pro Bowler:
“He’s a huge part of our offense, helps us get rolling,” Love said.
Josh Jacobs' Week 9 fantasy outlook
The game against the Lions is a high-stakes one, as the NFC North lead will be on the line. For the Packers to win, they will have to hope that Josh Jacobs is healthy enough to play and then puts on a dominant performance.
Emphasis on "healthy" because his main backup, AJ Dillon, is out for the rest of the season with a neck injury. That leaves the team with a dearth of running back talent, which is a risky proposition for any fantasy manager who likes double-RB setups.
Sophomore Emanuel Wilson has carried the ball 51 times for 226 yards, but he has yet to prove himself a scoring threat off the bench, putting him at RB46. Chris Brooks, another sophomore who was elevated from the practice squad last month, sits at RB75 and has had just 40 yards on eleven carries.
Even against a team missing its best pass rusher, the Packers cannot afford any more injuries to their ground game. Fantasy managers will also be hoping for a massive gain from Jacobs.
