Long serving as assistant to one of the greatest coaching minds the game of football has ever seen, Josh McDaniels has finally branched out on his own, again. Born in Canton, Ohio, McDaniels would see his first experience in the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at Michigan State. From there, his career would take a dramatic turn.

In 2001, the youngster came to be a part of the first leg of the New England Patriots dynasty. Joining as a personnel assistant, he gradually rose through the ranks. By 2009, he had taken on the role of defensive assistant, quarterback coach, and offensive coordinator. His offensive masterstroke led the Patriots to set NFL records that year. With rumors swirling for Josh to take up a full-time head coaching role. Even his coach Bill Belichick was supportive of his endeavor, giving him a five-page report about the intricacies of the game, which Josh later called his Bible.

Soon after, he took a shot at the head coaching position. Joining the Denver Broncos for two years, Josh McDaniels had mixed results in his tenure. While he started off strong with five straight wins, it eventually trailed off. The second year was a disaster, ending at 3-9. Then, the video-taping scandal with the San Francisco 49ers led to his eventual firing.

After his head coaching tenure, the disgraced McDaniels returned to an OC and quarterbacks coach role that he fulfilled exceedingly well with the Patriots. This time, however, it was the St. Louis Rams. But, after just one season, Josh was done with the team. Soon after, he returned home.

Picking back the mantle once again for the New England Patriots, the combo of McDaniels-Belichick and Brady would once again dominate, kickstarting the second leg of the New England dynasty. In his second tenure, he would win three more championships, each as the offensive coordinator.

Finally, McDaniels sought a return to the head coaching ranks. On January 31st, 2022, the Las Vegas Raiders appointed him as their head coach. In a sweet taste of redemption, his first victory came against his former Denver Broncos. Despite some criticism towards his inability to keep leads, the franchise gave strong support to McDaniels. Despite that, McDaniels was fired on October 31, 2023 due to his underwhelming stint with the Raiders. He had a win-loss record of 9-16 in the regular season.

Josh McDaniels’s Age

Josh McDaniels is 47 years old, as of November 2023. He was born on April 22, 1976, in Canton, Ohio. For ages, he’s been recognized as one of the most brilliant offensive minds to grace the gridiron. Whether it was in his first or second stint with the team, McDaniels was instrumental to the team’s success at the Championship level. It was his offensive genius that led the Patriots to boast record numbers throughout the late 2000s and most of the 2010s.

Even though his tenure as a head coach wasn't ideal, McDaniels showed flashes of his brilliance. It is these flashes that the Las Vegas Raiders were counting on to turn more consistent to lead their team to glory. But sadly, that was not the case.

Josh McDaniels’s Height

Josh McDaniels is 6 feet and 4 inches tall (1.93 meters). He can imitate a lot of what makes quarterbacks great. While he’s not in the best of physical conditions, McDaniels maintains a thoroughly successful offense on the back of his height. His height advantage allows him to see passing lanes and visions, thereby allowing him to set up complex plays with remarkable ease. In that regard, his excellent physical measurements have been a big advantage to the 47-year-old.
