Josh Palmer is expected to play another important role with the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2024 NFL season. The Chargers selected the wideout in the third round of the 2021 draft, and he has regularly featured for the team ever since.

With the fantasy football bug in the air, fans have been curious to learn whether Palmer is a solid draft pick for the upcoming season. Here, we'll delve into why you should or should not select the Chargers wideout in your fantasy team.

Should you draft Chargers WR Josh Palmer in 2024?

Josh Palmer is not an ideal top fantasy pick. However, the player is likely to get a higher share of the reps in the 2024 season following Keenan Allen's move to the Chicago Bears and Mike Williams' release in the offseason.

Palmer has forged a strong partnership with the Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert in the past few seasons, and the duo is likely to be key to the team's offense in the upcoming season.

Drafting Palmer into your fantasy team for the 2024 season could be risky, but it can be rewarding. There is a slight possibility that he will combine excellently with Herbert. It's a tough choice since the duo can rack up the fantasy points together, but it's a gamble nonetheless.

Notably, Palmer has had four 100-receiving yard games in the past two seasons. If he is utilized more often in 2024, there is a higher chance we could see him posting more regular 100+ yard games.

Josh Palmer fantasy outlook 2024

Josh Palmer played 10 games for the Chargers last season. He missed a few games due to a sprain in his right knee and was placed on the injured reserve list on Nov. 5 before being activated on Dec. 12.

In the 2023 season, Palmer ranked 55th in receiving yards (584), tied 67th in receptions (38) and tied 64th in touchdowns (two) among all receivers in the league. These are clearly not stats from a wideout that will help you win your fantasy league.

However, Palmer has shown promise in recent years. This makes some fantasy managers draw attention to him.

Last season, Palmer finished with 106.7 fantasy points, averaging 10.7 FPPG. In 2022, he averaged 10.6 FPPG and he had 5.5 FPPG in his rookie season.

Judging by his trajectory, Palmer is showing improvement in terms of FPPG. If he is able to feature regularly for the Chargers in the 2024 season, he could further boost his fantasy points average.
