Josh Uche College

Joshua Ikechukwu Uche is an American football linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, as of the 2024 NFL season. The New England Patriots drafted Uche with the 60th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. During his rookie season with the Patriots, he recorded his first career sack against Lamar Jackson in a Week 10 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Over his time with the Patriots, he tallied a total of 76 tackles and 20.5 sacks. In March 2024, the Patriots re-signed him. However, Uche was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in October 2024. In his first season with the Chiefs, he has played four games, recording two tackles, as of Week 12 of the 2024 NFL season. (via Pro Football Reference).

Born in Miami, Florida, Uche attended Christopher Columbus High School, where he played high school football under coach Chris Merritt. As a senior, he recorded 50 tackles, 14 sacks, and two forced fumbles, and as a junior, he had 34 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. He was rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and ESPN, as per the official website of the University of Michigan. After completing high school, he committed to playing collegiate football for the Michigan Wolverines at the University of Michigan.

Uche attended the University of Michigan, where he played collegiate football from 2016 to 2019. According to the official website of the University of Michigan, he played in 39 games with nine starts at Michigan and was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.

He earned All-Big Ten honors twice, with second-team honors, third-team honors and a honorable mention on the 2018 All-Big Ten Conference football team.

As a freshman in 2016, he played in four games and recorded three tackles, after sustaining an injury.

In the following season, he played in 10 games, recording 3 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, and 1 sack as a sophomore in 2017.

As a junior in 2018, he played in 12 games at linebacker, recording 15 tackles, including 8 for loss, and 7 sacks, earning Third-team All-Big Ten honors.

As a senior in 2019, he played in all 13 games with nine starts, recording 35 tackles, including 11.5 for loss and 8.5 sacks, leading the team in both categories. He was also selected to Pro Football Focus College's All-Big Ten Team on defense and earned Second-team All Big-Ten honors.
