Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears are fourth in the NFC North with three wins and 10 defeats this season. Despite a tough run in 2022, Fields has emerged as one of the most prolific rushing quarterbacks in the league.
However, Fields' journey to the top hasn't been easy due to specific medical issues. The quarterback star was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 15 and has been dealing with the matter ever since.
According to reports, Fields' epilepsy is hereditary as his mother Gina Tobey was also diagnosed with the illness when she was in the seventh grade. In a recent interview with ESPN, Fields spoke about his diagnosis and said:
"I was crying, because I didn't know how that would affect my football career."

What is epilepsy and how has it affected Justin Fields?
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders in the world. The illness can cause seizures, unusual behavior, or loss of consciousness.
Fields had initially spoken about his epilepsy last year when he was drafted by the Bears. However, by his own admission, his epilepsy hasn't limited his NFL career by any means.
The Bears superstar continues to follow a strict medical schedule to remain at the top of his game. He admitted that he still takes three to four pills every night to deal with his epilepsy.
Although Fields was not comfortable talking about epilepsy during his teens, he now wants to help raise awareness and be a role model for others.
Justin Fields' stats this campaign
Fields has racked up 1,642 passing yards, 13 passing touchdowns, and eight interceptions for the Bears this season. He also has 122 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
In Week 13, he put up 254 passing yards and one rushing touchdown in a loss against the Green Bay Packers. With that defeat, the Bears are albeit out of playoff contention.
With Justin Fields at quarterback, the Bears are all set up to make progress in their rebuilding for next season.
