Justin Jefferson was born on June 16, 1999, in St. Rose, Louisiana. He attended Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana. He committed to Louisiana State University (LSU) to play college football as a low three-star prospect, listed by 247Sports as the nation's 308th-best wide receiver coming out of high school.
Justin has two older brothers, Jordon and Rickey, who have also played college football at LSU. Jordon is a former football quarterback who serves as the coach of Colorado State football. Rickey is currently associated with the New Orleans Saints as a safety.

Following in his brothers' footsteps, Justin wanted to play football. He is the third LSU product in his family and the most successful out of the three.
Justin's father, John Earl Jefferson, is his inspiration. The wide receiver credits him for his athletic success. John is a former Division II college basketball player. He did not play in the NBA but is proud of his children, who have competed in different major leagues.
Jefferson has been a pro bowler and a second-team All-Pro in each of his first two seasons. In the 2022 season, Jefferson started in all 11 games, recorded 81 receptions on 116 targets for 1,232 yards, and scored five touchdowns.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Justin Jefferson in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He is playing his third season with the Vikings and so far has 265 receptions from 392 targets for 4,076 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Last season, he recorded 108 receptions for 1,616 yards and ten touchdowns. Justin Jefferson made it to the Pro Bowl twice and was named second on the list of Offensive Rookie of the Year 2020.
