This Kansas City Chiefs just know how to win. They keep stacking win after win after win and before you know it, it's the playoffs, and Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce hit another gear and they... win. In Week 4 against their division rivals, Los Angeles Chargers, the Chiefs found another way to win after being handed another major injury.
Star wide receiver Rashee Rice, who is suspected to have suffered a torn ACL, is likely to miss most, if not all, of the rest of the season and with Isiah Pacheco and Hollywood Brown already out, this Chiefs offense was tested. And who did they turn to? Kareem Hunt was the next man up.
Hunt had the most touches among Chiefs running backs against the Chargers and he also didn't look the least bit rusty despite being called up to the roster earlier in the week.
Here's everything you need to know about Hunt's potential as a top waiver pickup in Week 5.

Top waiver wire adds for Week 5: Kareem Hunt
Let's face it, you're not going to find much value among running backs on the waiver wire this week. The best you could do is either Kareem Hunt or Cincinnati Bengals backup Chase Brown, who nearly matched lead running back Zack Moss for touches and outscored him in touchdowns and yards. But enough about the Chiefs' rivals. Here's why you need to pick Kareem Hunt off the waiver wire stat.
This Chiefs backfield was primed to look vulnerable after Isiah Pacheco's injury. Andy Reid turned to Carson Steele to fill that Pacheco void but after Steele fumbled on the first drive of the game, Reid instantly turned to Hunt. Steele is a rookie and he will learn the ways of the National Football League but the Chiefs are in the business of winning. Specifically, winning a three-peat.
When all was said and done, Hunt had 14 carries for 69 yards and a couple of receptions. Those are strong numbers for a running back who was just signed to the active roster.
One thing to consider here is that reinforcements are on the way for the Chiefs. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is expected to return to practice in Week 5 and could very well take the field but given the spate of injuries they've suffered in recent weeks, the Chiefs have every reason to be cautious with easing CEH into action. Expect Hunt to be the primary ball carrier with the passing offense still a patchwork.
