Kenneth Gainwell is an American football running back and kickoff returner for the Philadelphia Eagles as of the 2024 NFL season. The Eagles selected him with the 150th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft. He subsequently signed a 4-year rookie contract valued at $3.81 million with the team.

Before entering the NFL, Gainwell played collegiate football at the University of Memphis from 2018 to 2020. Throughout his collegiate career with the Memphis Tigers, he appeared in 18 games, starting 14 of them (as per the official website of the university). He amassed 2,212 all-purpose yards, with 235 carries for 1,550 yards and 14 touchdowns. Additionally, he made 57 receptions for 662 yards and three touchdowns. In 2019, Gainwell earned First-team All-AAC honors and was named the AAC Rookie of the Year. During his high school years, he was a three-year starter at quarterback for Yazoo County High School.
