Kenneth Walker III injury status: Seahawks RB receives major update ahead of Week 15 showdown - Source: Imagn

On Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks will host the Green Bay Packers at Lumen Field in a critical game for both teams' playoff ambitions. The Los Angeles Rams' narrow win over the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football saw them close the gap to the Seahawks to half a game. Seattle losing against Green Bay would see them drop to second in the NFC West standings.

Given how high the stakes are, the Seahawks would have hoped to have all their star players available for Sunday's game. However, they will likely be without star running back Kenneth Walker III.

Kenneth Walker III injury update: Will RB play vs. Packers in Week 15?

The third-year star has been dealing with a calf injury over the past fortnight and missed the Seahawks' 30-18 win over the Arizona Cardinals last week. Seattle was hoping he'd return for their Week 15 battle against the Packers, but that seemingly won't be the case.

NFL insider Adam Schefter took to X to report:

"Seahawks are listing RB Kenneth Walker III as doubtful for Sunday night’s game vs. the Packers due to his calf injury."

Walker did not practice throughout the week and has been listed as doubtful on the Seahawks injury report. He likely will not play on Sunday. His absence is a massive blow to Seattle, who'll now have to rely on Zach Charbonnet and Kenny McIntosh to get their ground game going.

Kenneth Walker III stats: How has the RB fared this season?

The Seahawks' rush attack is nothing to write home about, however, Kenneth Walker has made the most of a dire situation. He's the team's rushing yards leader with 542 on 145 carries. He also has seven rushing touchdowns, which is joint-most for Seattle alongside Charbonnet.

Walker has also been a reliable target for quarterback Geno Smith in the passing game with 38 catches on 45 targets for 271 yards and one touchdown. His 813 yards from scrimmage rank second behind wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba's 911 for the Seahawks. Walker is the team's joint-leading touchdown scorer alongside Zach Charbonnet with eight.

Walker has been vital to Seattle's success. It remains to be seen whether the Seahawks can cope with his absence as well as they did against the Cardinals or if a significantly better Packers team can stop them.
